Self-Declaration for White Category Industries

Simplifying compliance for low-risk industries

Simplifying compliance for low-risk industries

In a major ease-of-doing business move, Siddhesh Kadam spearheaded a circular allowing “white category” industry (low-risk, non-polluting sectors) to self-declare compliance under the Water and Air Acts, eliminating the need for lengthy approvals. This reform streamlines governance and focuses on MPCB’s resources where risk is real.

Mr. Kadam’s governance model acknowledges that not all industries require the same level of scrutiny. By separating low-impact businesses from heavy polluters, he ensures targeted enforcement, better resource allocation, and a more industry-responsive regulatory climate.
